Another week has gone by, and although I said I would take the week off, I couldn't miss a local Trance night in my city. This is my review of Trancecoda's 4th Birthday, otherwise known as the first 'In Trance We Trust' event in the UK!

The Review:
Trancecoda celebrated their 4th Birthday by hosting the UK's first edition of 'In Trance We Trust' with Menno de Jong. A pinnacle event in the heart of Birmingham with a super lineup featuring: Adam Ellis, Andy Moor, Amir Hussain, Allen Watts B2B Dark Fusion
Factor B, Gabriel & Dresden, Neelix, Paul Brice, Robin Wass, Sean Tyas and Will
Atkinson (6hr set).
12:30am.
When I arrived at Boxxed in Digbeth, Menno de Jong was already on the stage hammering out the tunes. I wanted to see what Will Atkinson was like, as I assumed he would be playing the uplifting tunes about now. He started at 10pm, so naturally it would make sense.
The room had about 20 people in it, most of whom were wearing a 'VII' shirt, and the music was still quite progressive. I was surprised, but it didn't stop me enjoying the set.
I said hello to some of my friends who were present in the crowd, before going back to listen to Menno de Jong.
01:30am ish.
Neelix followed, and this was a surprise for me, as normally a trance night would have Psy-trance to close, rather than mid-way through the night.
Anyway, it was interesting to finally see him play, as you may know, Psy-trance isn't for me.
02:45am.
Sean Tyas followed, and I love seeing this man perform in Birmingham. He blew
everyone away with his uplifting and Degenerate trance set, which made my night.
04:05am
Allen Watts did a special B2B set with Dark Fusion, and Amir Hussain was playing in the Bunker room. As I wanted to see all of these DJ's perform, so I gave each DJ 30 mins.
Started with 30 mins of Amir Hussain who played proper trance, giving the crowd a spectacular wave of vibrations.
04:35am
Back in the main room to see Allen Watts & Dark Fusion rocketing the dancefloor with superb tracks.
05:00am
Time for the 2nd main DJ I wanted to see, who is Factor B.
Now, having an uplifting DJ close the night is what I love, but others prefer the journey from progressive, to uplifting, then hard/psy to finish.
Factor B dropped 'Every Sun', 'Liberator', 'Aly & Fila's 'How Long' and many other
amazing gems from his roaster of trance tracks.
05:55am
Factor B is winding down his 2nd to last track, and with 5 mins left on the clock till 6am, the security guard threatens Factor B to end the set & not play one more tune.
Naturally, the crowd are furious and Factor B starts another track, before it's abruptly shut down. As a clubber, I respect the security for wanting to clear the crowd quickly after a night out, but we've paid a lot of money to attend. Nights should finish at their scheduled times.
Anyway, a short but successful Trancecoda night for me. Next up is A State of Trance in Liverpool, with Armin van Buuren, Aly & Fila, Estiva, Ruben de Ronde, Orjan Nilsen & others.
